Electricity and Renewables
Renewable Energy is now regarded by many commentators as part of the answer to the world's carbon dioxide emission problems and Bond Pearce's early recognition of the potential of renewable energy has established their lawyers as leaders in the sector. Bond Pearce has been closely involved with the sector since advising in 1990 on the first commercial wind farm project in the UK at Delabole in Cornwall.
"Our lawyers are totally committed to renewable energy and have been since the early pioneering days of the emerging wind industry. Wind is now a major part of electricity generation and this looks set to continue for both on and off-shore projects given the Government's long-term commitment to the Renewables Obligation", says partner Marcus Trinick. "Renewable energy has attracted the biggest energy companies but smaller developers, like those who kick-started the industry in this country, are still important to its success going forward. We can help with everything from project development and planning inquiries to AIM listings and major financial transactions involving portfolios of wind farms".
Bond Pearce's renewables team includes leading nationally recognised specialists whose advice to the sector is underpinned by detailed industry knowledge gained from active participation in industry bodies including BWEA and SRF. The firm has lawyers qualified to practise in England/Wales and Scotland.
"We are also advising on projects using emerging technologies such as wave, tidal and biomass" says Marcus. "These technologies are developing fast and the interest and support shown by venture capitalists and Government agencies such as SWRDA with its Wavehub project should lead to the early promotion of commercial projects. Advising on Wavehub and similar projects is helping us to keep in touch with the latest developments".
