Marcus has specialised in planning and environmental law for more than twenty years and is particularly well known for his work in the renewable energy sector. He has appeared as advocate at almost 350 public inquiries and has advised on many planning applications and appeals concerning mineral, housing, retail, industrial, energy and tourism developments.
Since 1988 he has established a reputation in the field of energy law. He has been involved in the development of the wind energy industry and has advised on more than 220 proposed renewable energy developments in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He has particular interests in the law and practice relating to nature conservation, noise emissions, electromagnetic effects and the application of EU environmental law to UK development projects. Marcus has lectured on renewable energy development in England, Wales, Scotland, Denmark, Holland, Germany and the United States.
Marcus has also advised on a number of biomass and energy from waste projects, as well as working on proposed landfill site project teams. He has advised DTI on a number of matters relating to the legal aspects of the commercialisation of renewable energy developments.
Marcus has higher rights of audience in the High Court in all proceedings and in other courts, in all civil proceedings.
Marcus is a board member of the British Wind Energy Association. He is a legal associate member of The Royal Town Planning Institute. He is an external lecturer on energy law at the Centre for Renewable Energy Studies at Loughborough University.
Marcus has been involved in the preparation of many Environmental Statements. In relation to some of these Bond Pearce has acted as project manager. With others Bond Pearce has simply acted as legal advisor to the production of the Environmental Statement and has contributed sections on planning policy. In all cases Bond Pearce has been responsible for the final production of the document in order to ensure internal consistency.
Marcus is recognised as a leader in his field by Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession 2008 and goes on to say "Leading wind farm expert Marcus Trinick is viewed as "the best" in the renewables sector, with a "broad spectrum of advisory and advocacy abilities."
