- environmental litigation
Our work on the enforcement and regulatory side of our environmental practice includes: defending prosecutions brought by the Environment Agency, DEFRA and local authorities; judicial review proceedings and potential challenges relating to use of statutory powers by regulators; judicial review proceedings relating to Human Rights Act challenges on environmental issues; dealing with claims founded in negligence and common law; appeals against statutory nuisance notices.

Equal opportunities
Public interest disclosure
We are experienced in advising in relation to the effect of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998. Recently we advised a local authority in connection with public interest disclosure and as a result have subsequently advised a university on a particular issue arising.
Risk management
Much of our practice is built around risk management advice to organisations. In particular, in all of the regulatory areas affecting education we frequently advise on the management of risk, eg in connection with health and safety.
Academic regulations
We have helped draft, interpret and advise on academic regulations covering a wide variety of issues including financial regulations, intellectual property issues and the use of electronic communications and the internet.
