Welcome to the inaugural Bond Pearce Southampton Property Tennis Challenge. The Challenge will take place during May, June and July 2008 with the finals following after the summer break, in September.

We hope that you will enjoy meeting new people, making new contacts and playing in the sunshine (!) over the summer and look forward to seeing you on a tennis court soon!

Who can play?

The challenge is open to all standards of players (save for professional tennis players!) and anyone involved in property across the region. There are three sections to the tournament: men's doubles, mixed doubles and ladies' doubles.

How can I enter?

Registration is now closed

What is the match format?

The matches are to be played on a "best of three" tie break sets basis.

When will the matches be played?

Each round will be played over a number of weeks to allow for players being on holiday etc. The exact deadlines will be communicated to the players as each draw is made. The first draw will be made before the beginning of May. Where one team is unable to schedule their game within the allotted timeframe the match will be forfeited to the other pair. If neither team is able to play their match within the timeframe, a coin will be tossed to decide upon the victor.

Where will the matches be played?

Before the beginning of May (and then before each subsequent round) each pair will be notified of their first round opponents to be played at an agreed venue (see our list of suggested venues for ideas) at the shared cost of the players. The pair who wins the first round will go through to the second round draw, whilst the losing pair will have the opportunity to avenge their defeat by joining the draw for the Plate. Alternatively, we may operate the challenge on a round robin format.

Results

It is the winner's duty to email in the results as soon as possible after the match.

In the event that any one player is involved in the tournament in more than one competition at the semi-final stage, they will then be asked to elect which of the competitions they would like to pursue. That spare place will then be filled by the best loser in the relevant competition.

The finals

The rounds will continue in this fashion until two pairs are left standing in each of the categories. The finals for the Plate and Cup competitions will then be held at the David Lloyd Club on Thursday 4 September from 2pm and will be a free event.

Everyone is welcome to attend and support the finals and refreshments will be provided to players and supporters!
