Julian is a partner and head of the firm's Technology department, which includes the intellectual property, information technology and data protection teams. He has specialised in information technology and intellectual property since 1997.
He acts for major retailers and is well known for his experience in retail and financial services related IT systems. He represents a number of government bodies, retailers and financial services/insurance companies. The focus of his work is on development and licensing of computer software, procurement/outsourcing, and online services/e-commerce.
Julian is a member of the Society for Computers and Law, The Intellectual Property Lawyers Organisation and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
His key clients are Kingfisher (B&Q/Screwfix), New Look, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, LV=, Skandia, Ordnance Survey and English Heritage.
Julian is recognised as a leader in the fields of information technology law and intellectual property law by Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession 2011 in which clients are quoted as saying he "gives the end product in the form of digestible, useful advice ... depth of industry knowledge, especially in retail".
