Bond Pearce

Julian is a partner and head of Bond Pearce's banking team and has specialised in corporate and finance work since qualifying in 1984. He has substantial experience in advising banks, financial institutions and borrowers on financial transactions, particularly in acquisition and project finance. He also has specialist expertise in the financing of the motor trade and has acted in a number of retail, office and leisure property development schemes for banks and institutions. Julian also has a broad range of experience dealing in refinancings and restructurings.

Examples of experience include acting for:

• Lloyds Bank and Lloyds TSB commercial finance on the initial and secondary MBOs of Integral
• Lloyds, Barclays, HSBC and Rabobank on the £140m funding of Milk Link
• Barclays on the VAMBO of IPL Group
• Barclays and HSBC providing acquisition and working capital facilities to Mears Group

Julian also has considerable experience of acting for borrowers and lenders on projects involving a mix of public and private finance, particularly the inter creditor issues that emanate from this type of funding structure. Examples of such projects in which he has been involved include The National Marine Aquarium, Cattedown Regeneration and Bournemouth Library.

Julian is recognised as a star performer in his field of banking law by Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession 2011 which says he 'impresses clients with his "ability to express himself in simple, non-jargon terms"'.

Julian won both the Insider Corporate Lawyer of the Year and the Western Daily Press Corporate Lawyer of the Year awards in the South West in 2008.
