Nigel is a partner and has specialised in real estate work for over thirty years.  He has extensive experience in development and investment work and has acted for developers such as Quintain, Rok Development, P&O Estates, Midas Developments, Chelverton Deeley Freed.
Examples of recent experience include:
  • acting for the BBC on a significant amount of ongoing instructions on various matters, including a number of disposals in London and in relation to the creation of a new Orchestra Studio for the National Orchestra for Wales at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay
  • acting for South West of England Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) in relation to a number of significant redevelopment and funding projects in the South West including the "Taunton Vision" and Newquay Airport
  • acting for MOD Defence Estates in connection with the acquisition of a 150,000 ft² main office building
  • work for P&O Estates in relation to the development of the 530,000 ft² Drake Circus shopping scheme in Plymouth which opened in October 2006.  Nigel and his team acted in relation to the development documents including anchor lettings and leases of all units.  This development has now been sold by Kandahar where Bond Pearce acted on the sale.  It was the largest shopping centre sale in 2010 in   the UK
  • acting for a number of occupiers including three of the principal businesses currently operating within the site required for the 2012 Olympic Games, including negotiating development agreements and acquisition and planning agreements with the London Development Agency and developers in respect of relocation to other sites comprising more than 300,000 ft² of new build
  • advising Accor UK Economy Hotels Limited in relation to turn key developments into various new hotels for their IBIS and Etap chains

Nigel has also worked for a number of investment companies including Eagle One Ltd and Charterfield Asset Management Ltd.  He has completed projects throughout the country and is particularly experienced in substantial property developments, including public/private partnerships and finance/lease arrangements.

He has made presentations at various conferences and courses, including RICS events, on commercial property development and landlord and tenant legislation.  He has contributed a number of articles to general business and specialist property media and was a contributor to Butterworths Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents (Property Volumes).

Nigel is recognised as a leader in the field of real estate in Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession 2010 and recent comments about him include:

Nigel is a member of the Council of University College Plymouth St Mark and St John and also a director of Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club Ltd.  He is also a keen golfer who plays at Yelverton, Rye, Burnham & Berrow and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.
