LEGAL experts and senior executives gathered in London to explore the business goals and the role legal plays in supporting the delivery of the business strategy.
This event brought together in-house counsel and senior executives from many of the UK's top businesses, banks and leading business people to discuss a wide range of topical business issues including new approaches to collaboration, the evolution of the use of technology, funding models in the current economic climate issues relating to mergers, as well as issues relating to privacy data and competition law.
A series of interactive workshops, each with themes linked to value, made for a series of lively debates focusing on exploiting business opportunities, securing investments and transforming legal operations to gain greater value.
It concluded with a panel discussion chaired by leading legal commentator, Professor Richard Susskind. Panellists Simon Barratt (General Counsel at Whitbread PLC ), Leah G. Cooper (Strategy Director of CPA Global ), Matt Jowett (Company Secretary of VT Group plc)and Hazel Walker (Group Company Secretary of Network Rail), each offered their views on how traditional legal practices and inhouse legal teams are having to evolve the delivery of legal services in line with the changing demands of their clients and how businesses are constantly reviewing how they purchase legal services and give the best value to their internal clients.
The event was held at Altitude 360 in the Millbank Tower, London.
