Bond Pearce

We have a specific focus on regeneration as an industry sector, and within that we have and are actively growing teams dedicated to public sector or private sector redevelopment.  Our local government practice (nationally recognised in Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession) is central to our business.  We continue to be chosen by local government and other regeneration bodies to advise on their ability to promote successful regeneration schemes.

As a firm, we have developed a wealth of regeneration experience through our relationship with national development agencies and local authorities.  Our lawyers have been involved in housing regeneration working with those partners the HCA works with, namely local authorities, registered social landlords and private sector developers.  We have built a reputation as being a top legal advisor in the retail sector nationally, enabling mixed use city centre regeneration to take place.

We also have one of the largest teams of specialist construction lawyers outside the city advising on property, retail and engineering projects and the disputes that arise out of them.

Our specialists support clients undertaking procurement projects in the public sector.  Our procurement and State Aid experience includes advice on the full procurement process and analysing key risk areas, prioritising what is important in the project and then factoring that into the chosen method of procurement.  We also have an EU/Competition Law team which advises on all aspects of the subject including State Aid issues.

Our Work

  • Parkway, Newbury.  We are advising West Berkshire Council on their retail led regeneration scheme for the centre of Newbury.  We dealt with planning, highways compulsory purchase and private treaty negotiations.  We are now dealing with compensation claims from affected landowners
  • advising a local planning authority on their approach to two conflicting supermarket development applications, including advice on the Council's land interest in one of the two promoted sites
  • the infrastructure procurement and land transactions relating to the first phase of Hengrove Park, which will provide leisure, health and educational facilities key to the regeneration of South Bristol.
  • the planning and land acquisition strategy for road schemes for the new Wembley stadium and the surrounding regeneration area
  • The Orchard Centre, Didcot Town Centre.  We acted for South Oxfordshire District Council throughout the £45million Orchard Centre, Didcot, redevelopment, a joint venture between the Council and Taylor Woodrow Developments.
