Our construction and engineering team has a reputation for expertise in a number of sectors and advises on high profile local and national projects for both the public and private procurers.

We provide a full advice service for construction and engineering projects from the early strategic procurement stages through to tendering and drafting and negotiation of the project documentation.  Clients look to us for help analysing the key risk areas, prioritising what is important in the project and then factoring that into the chosen method of procurement.

We work with real estate, energy and retail clients and we also carry out due diligence exercises for funders and purchasers.

The team also has significant expertise in dispute resolution in construction and engineering projects and regularly act for clients in litigation in the Technology and Construction Court, domestic and international arbitrations, adjudications and ADR.

Our Work

  • advising New Look on the latest expansion phase of its national distribution centre in Stafford, now one of the largest automated retail distribution centres in Europe and a project in which the team has been involved since the original construction and fit out of the centre in 2004
  • advising Carlsberg on a number of demolition and plant contracts as part of the consolidation of its UK brewing operations which involves the closure of its site in Leeds and the expansion of its Northampton site.  The project is significant for Carlsberg’s entire European operation and is part of its international drive for expansion
  • the team acts on a number of construction matters for Royal Mail including construction disputes often involving their main sorting offices and distribution centres. The matters can range from defective roofs and concrete floors to more substantial defects affecting Royal Mail's national operations
  • the team are sole legal advisers on the construction of the wave hub project which is a ground breaking project, now nearing completion of its construction phase and which is attracting worldwide interest as it is going to be very important to the development of wave energy as a further renewable energy source.
