The construction and engineering team has significant experience advising a broad range of clients on the avoidance, management and resolution of disputes. The team typically advise on claims involving disputes over non-payment for works, defects, delay and disruption, IT and engineering systems, failures and claims relating to allegations of professional negligence.

A lot of the work we do involves early strategic advice so that our clients can avoid disputes escalating but we have the expertise to resolve those disputes in a timely and cost effective way. The team acts for developers, contractors and consultants in litigation, arbitrations (both domestic and international), adjudications and ADR.

Members of the team are affiliated to industry organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and are qualified to act as adjudicators on a number of industry panels.

Our work

advising the operators of three major lines on the London Underground network on a series of disputes under the London Underground PPP contract
advising a number of retail clients on alleged design and construction defects in retail distribution centres, including defective high bay racking and performance issues in relation to automated handling equipment
acting for a number of developers, contractors and consultants on adjudications involving claims with values in excess of £5 million
acting for and against architects, engineers and surveyors in claims involving allegations of professional negligence
